Description

A warm, slightly sweet bread that combines the flavors of apple fritters and soft focaccia, topped with a glossy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 medium apple, diced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Flatten the risen dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Top with diced apples.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth. Drizzle over the focaccia after it cools for 5–10 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, pairs well with coffee or ice cream.
