Description
These tender, sweet banana donuts are topped with a creamy cinnamon cream cheese frosting, making them perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan. Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth.
- In the bowl with the mashed bananas, add the sugar, milk, egg, and melted butter and stir to combine. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean. Remove from oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon until smooth and creamy. Once the donuts are completely cool, spread or pipe the cinnamon cream cheese frosting over each donut.
Notes
Serve slightly warm or at room temperature. These pair well with coffee or cold milk, and can be garnished with a light dusting of cinnamon or nuts.
