Description
A classic comfort food dish featuring tender ground beef simmered in rich gravy over fluffy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir for about 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the hot beef mixture over prepared mashed potatoes, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use beef broth instead of water. You can also experiment with garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.
