Description

A classic comfort food dish featuring tender ground beef simmered in rich gravy over fluffy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  3. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve the hot beef mixture over prepared mashed potatoes, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use beef broth instead of water. You can also experiment with garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.
