Description

A beautiful dessert combining layers of rich chocolate cake, sweet cherry pie filling, and fluffy whipped cream, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings
  • 1/4 cup cherry liqueur (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and bake. Allow it to cool completely, then cut the cake into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a large trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.
  3. Drizzle the cherry liqueur over the cake cubes if using.
  4. Top with half of the cherry pie filling, spreading it evenly to cover the cake.
  5. Dollop half of the whipped cream on top of the cherries.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining cake, cherry filling, and whipped cream.
  7. Finish with chocolate shavings on top.
  8. Refrigerate the trifle for at least 120 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the cherry liqueur or substitute with cherry juice.
