Description

A sweet and satisfying dessert featuring tender dumplings and fresh blackberries, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for syrup)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the blackberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until the berries soften.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Slowly stir in the milk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  3. Carefully drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering blackberry mixture, spooning evenly throughout the pot.
  4. Cover the saucepan and let the dumplings cook for about 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally. They are done when fluffy and cooked through.
  5. Serve warm, drizzled with syrup from the berry mixture.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream; store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
