Description
A sweet and satisfying dessert featuring tender dumplings and fresh blackberries, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar (for syrup)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the blackberries, 1/2 cup of sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until the berries soften.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Slowly stir in the milk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering blackberry mixture, spooning evenly throughout the pot.
- Cover the saucepan and let the dumplings cook for about 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally. They are done when fluffy and cooked through.
