Description

A simple, comforting bake turning everyday bread into a creamy, fruit-topped treat with juicy blueberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and slightly frothy.
  3. Arrange the bread in the dish, scatter the blueberries over them, then pour the custard mixture over the bread and blueberries. Let sit for 2-3 minutes to absorb.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Best served warm. You can add a drizzle of maple syrup or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra flavor.
