Description

These bourbon pecan balls are small, tender cookies with a rich nutty crunch and a warm hint of bourbon that melt in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the bourbon and mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour and chopped pecans, mixing until fully combined and the dough holds together.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until edges look set and bottoms are lightly golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly for 5 minutes; then roll each ball in additional powdered sugar while warm.
  7. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a stronger bourbon flavor, warm the bourbon slightly before mixing. Adjust the recipe for no-alcohol by using milk or cream.
