Description

A hearty and satisfying breakfast casserole with crisp bread, savory sausage, and melted cheese, perfect for busy mornings or leisurely brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/2 pound cooked sausage or bacon
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables (like bell peppers, onions, or spinach)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs like parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes and spread evenly across the baking dish. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and milk, adding salt and pepper for seasoning.
  3. Stir in cooked sausage or bacon, chopped vegetables, and shredded cheese until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, distributing it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the egg is set and the top is golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or freeze individual portions for up to 2 months. Customize with your favorite vegetables or herbs.
