Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, swirling often until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
- Beat together the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely in the pan before dusting with powdered sugar and cutting into squares.
