Description

These Brown Butter Maple Donut Bars turn simple pantry ingredients into a tender, cake-like dessert with a nutty brown-butter aroma and warm maple sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, swirling often until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
  3. Beat together the browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool completely in the pan before dusting with powdered sugar and cutting into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 7 days. They freeze well for up to 3 months.
