Description

A cozy, weeknight-friendly casserole that combines tender shredded chicken, tangy ranch flavor, melty cheddar, and crispy tater tots on top.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 cups tater tots
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a medium baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ranch seasoning, sour cream, and milk. Stir until smooth. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.
  3. Spread the chicken mixture in the greased baking dish. Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over tater tots. Bake for 30–35 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and filling bubbles at the edges.
  4. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve warm.

Notes

For extra creaminess, swap half-and-half for the milk or add cream cheese to the filling. To avoid a soggy bottom, pre-bake the chicken mixture for 10 minutes before adding tots and cheese.
