Description

A warm, creamy dish of cheesy scalloped potatoes perfect for any gathering, combining tender layers of potatoes with a rich, cheesy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups sliced potatoes
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stir in the flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to form a roux, then whisk in the milk until thickened.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce, top with remaining cheese and paprika. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using different types of cheese. You can also add breadcrumbs for crunch on top before baking.
