Description

Savory bites with crispy pastry cups filled with sticky bacon jam and creamy cheese, perfect for parties or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package of pastry dough (or pie crust)
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the pastry dough on a lightly floured surface.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped cooked bacon and finely chopped onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and slightly golden.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar to the bacon and onions, cooking until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. In a bowl, mix the shredded cheese and softened cream cheese until smooth, then season with black pepper.
  5. Roll out the pastry dough and cut it into small circles, about 2 to 2.5 inches wide. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  6. Press your thumb into the center of each pastry circle to make a shallow indent.
  7. Fill each indent with about a teaspoon of bacon jam mixture, then add a small dollop of the cheese mixture on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15–20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped fresh herbs if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, do not overfill the pastry cups and use day-old cooked bacon for better caramelization. They’re freezer-friendly for up to a month.
