A delightful dessert combining sweet and tart cherries with creamy sour cream, perfect for sharing at gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 pre-made pie crust or slab pie crust
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the pitted cherries, sour cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cornstarch, salt, and lemon juice. Stir thoroughly until well incorporated.
  3. Roll out the pre-made pie crust on a floured surface and transfer it to a baking dish. Pour the cherry mixture into the crust and spread evenly.
  4. Brush the top crust with an egg wash, then bake for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of almond extract. If using frozen cherries, thaw and drain to prevent a soggy crust.
