- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry mix to the butter mixture, folding until just combined.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until edges turn golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into 24 bars.
Notes
Serve at room temperature. Pairs well with coffee or ice cream.
