Description

Chewy, sweet bars with a toasty oat flavor and pockets of molten chocolate, perfect for a quick snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter and sugar, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  5. Spread the mixture into the prepared baking pan and press it into an even layer.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting.

Notes

For best results, ensure the butter is room temperature and avoid overmixing the batter.
