Description

A warm batch of chocolate donuts topped with a bright strawberry glaze, perfect for breakfast or as a dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry puree
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or a little oil.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just mixed.
  4. Fill donut pan cavities about three-quarters full and bake for 10-12 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
  5. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and 1 tablespoon milk until smooth. Dip cooled donuts in glaze and return to the rack.

Notes

Serve at room temperature for best texture. Use a piping bag for filling the donut pan for clean edges.
