Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup chocolate kisses, unwrapped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and have your chocolate kisses unwrapped and ready.
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add peppermint extract and mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until incorporated.
  4. Roll dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the edges are set but centers are still soft.
  5. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each warm cookie. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
