Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, salt, and flour until a dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts evenly across the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly and slice it into rolls about 1 inch thick.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Drizzle maple syrup generously over the top of the rolls.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Allow the buns to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
