Description

Delightful sticky buns combining warm flavors of cinnamon and maple with crunchy walnuts, perfect for cozy mornings and festive brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Stir in melted butter, egg, salt, and flour until a dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts evenly across the dough.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly and slice it into rolls about 1 inch thick.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Drizzle maple syrup generously over the top of the rolls.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  11. Allow the buns to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Great with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream; can be refrigerated overnight before baking.
