Description

Delightful homemade pretzels topped with sweet cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacks or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (plus for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, and salt into the yeast mixture and mix until smooth.
  3. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Boil water and baking soda in a large saucepan.
  7. Punch down the risen dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape into pretzels.
  8. Dip each pretzel into boiling water for 30 seconds, then return to the baking sheet.
  9. Brush pretzels with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Serve with dips like vanilla icing or chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
