- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the cups.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
- Beat together the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and slightly fluffy.
- Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar with the ground cinnamon and stir in chopped nuts if using.
- Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter, sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over, then top with remaining batter.
- Bake for about 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- If desired, drizzle with a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk after cooling.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the batter and use room-temperature ingredients.
