A whimsical twist on classic cinnamon rolls, featuring cream cheese and chocolate chips, topped with vibrant blue cookie crumbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup softened cream cheese
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Milk (for frosting)
- Blue cookie crumbs (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix together brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, spread with softened cream cheese, and sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture and chocolate chips.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other to form a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar with a little milk to create frosting. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
- Sprinkle blue cookie crumbs over the frosted rolls.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Unbaked rolls can be frozen before the second rising.
