Description
This croissant bake breakfast casserole transforms buttery croissants into a rich, comforting morning meal with savory ham, melty cheese, and green onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 croissants, torn into pieces
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
- 1/2 cup diced ham or cooked bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray. Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and spread them evenly in the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth and slightly frothy. Stir in the shredded cheese, diced ham or cooked bacon, chopped green onions, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, pressing gently to soak the bread. Let it sit for 5 minutes if time allows. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with extra green onions or fresh herbs, then serve warm.
Notes
For a creamier custard, substitute half-and-half for the milk or add a splash of heavy cream. You can omit ham and replace it with sautéed vegetables for a vegetarian option.
