- French bread or Italian bread
- 4–5 ripe tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Balsamic vinegar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the bread into 1/2-inch thick slices and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush the bread with olive oil and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices.
- Drizzle with balsamic vinegar if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
Bruschetta is best enjoyed fresh. Store the tomato mixture separately from the toasted bread to prevent sogginess.
