- 20 jumbo pasta shells
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, ½ cup of Parmesan cheese, the egg, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.
- Carefully stuff each pasta shell with the cheese mixture, packing them generously.
- Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish. Arrange the stuffed shells, seam side up. Pour remaining marinara sauce on top, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
This dish can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Feel free to customize the cheese and add spinach or mushrooms for variation.
