Description

A quick and easy recipe for soft, chewy Turkish flatbreads made without an oven.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Gradually add water and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls (6 even portions).
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  6. Place a flatbread in the skillet and cook for about 2–3 minutes on the first side.
  7. If desired, brush the cooked flatbread lightly with olive oil.
  8. Keep cooked breads warm in a clean towel while you finish the rest.

Notes

Serve warm with dips, grilled meats, or use as a sandwich flatbread.
