Description

A delightful Italian dessert featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a creamy mascarpone mixture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Stir in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a shallow dish, dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture for a few seconds, making sure not to soak them too long.
  5. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  6. Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld perfectly.
  8. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for a touch of elegance.

Notes

Use high-quality coffee for the best flavor. Substitute coffee liqueur with almond or hazelnut liqueur for a twist.
