- 1 cup strong brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Stir in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- In a shallow dish, dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture for a few seconds, making sure not to soak them too long.
- Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld perfectly.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder for a touch of elegance.
Notes
Use high-quality coffee for the best flavor. Substitute coffee liqueur with almond or hazelnut liqueur for a twist.
