Description

A delightful dessert featuring thinly sliced apples blended into a moist cake, creating an ‘invisible’ fruit effect.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 large eggs
  • 100g (1/2 cup) sugar
  • 100g (1/2 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100ml (1/2 cup) milk
  • 30g (2 tablespoons) melted butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gently mix until just combined. Add vanilla extract, milk, and melted butter, stirring until smooth. Fold in the sliced apples.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a variety of apples, slice them thinly, and avoid overmixing the batter.
