Description
A savory tart filled with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and topped with melted Gruyère cheese, all encased in flaky puff pastry.

- 1 sheet of high-quality puff pastry
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Once onions are caramelized, add mushrooms and thyme. Cook until mushrooms soften and season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and transfer to a tart pan.
- Spread the onion and mushroom mixture over the pastry and sprinkle with Gruyère cheese. Brush beaten egg over the edges.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
