- 1 box vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup sprinkles
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 batch buttercream frosting
- Red, white, and blue food coloring
- Fresh strawberries for decoration
- Fresh blueberries for decoration
- Whipped cream for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil until smooth.
- Fold in sprinkles gently with a spatula.
- Divide the batter between the pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Meanwhile, prepare buttercream frosting and divide into three bowls; color one red, one blue, and keep one white.
- Place one cake layer on a plate and frost the top with white buttercream, then add the second layer.
- Apply a thin crumb coat of white frosting over the entire cake.
- Decorate the top and sides with red and blue frosting in a flag design.
- Add fresh strawberries and blueberries around the edges and atop the cake for decoration.
- Slice and serve the cake at your gathering!
Notes
For best results, cool the cake completely before frosting to avoid melting.
