Description

Warm, chewy pretzel sticks with a golden crust and a soft, pillowy interior, perfect for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • Butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes. Lightly oil the bowl.
  2. Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic, then let it rise covered in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Divide the dough and roll into sticks. Boil each stick in baking soda water for 30 seconds, then place on baking sheets. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Brush with butter and cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use warm water (105–115°F) and don’t over-boil. Experiment with toppings like cheese or garlic butter!
