Description
Crispy, golden egg rolls filled with savory vegetables and your choice of chicken or shrimp, perfect for an appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup cooked and chopped chicken or shrimp
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 package egg roll wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat a little oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped chicken or shrimp, and chopped green onions. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until the vegetables soften but still hold some crunch.
- Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well, remove from heat, and let cool for a few minutes.
- Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of the cooled filling on an egg roll wrapper, fold the sides, and roll tightly, sealing with a dab of water or beaten egg.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan to about 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
For best texture, serve hot and offer dipping sauces like soy sauce or sweet chili sauce. You can also bake the rolls for a healthier option.
