A rich and creamy homemade eggnog that brings warmth and cheer during the holiday season.
Ingredients

- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup rum (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add the sugar, continuing to beat until well blended.
- In a saucepan, combine the milk and cream. Heat over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
- Slowly whisk the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture to temper the eggs. Return to saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 10 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, and rum (if using). Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
For best taste, use fresh, high-quality eggs. Adjust sugar to taste and experiment with spices for variations.
