Description

Delicious mini sourdough loaves with a crisp, golden crust and tangy, chewy crumb, perfect for weeknight dinners or sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, water, and salt until well combined.
  2. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 4–6 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) with a baking stone inside if available.
  6. Divide the dough into small portions (6 equal pieces) and shape them into mini loaves.
  7. Place the loaves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Score the tops of the loaves with a sharp knife.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding.
  10. Allow the loaves to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a better crust, add steam in the first 10 minutes of baking by placing a pan of water in the oven.
