Description

A classic comfort food featuring juicy beef patties smothered in rich gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and shape into oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the patties from the skillet, then add beef broth to the same skillet and bring to a simmer.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Gradually add to the broth, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet and coat them with the gravy. Cook for another 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice, allowing the gravy to soak into your favorite sides.

Notes

For variations, try adding sautéed mushrooms or using gluten-free breadcrumbs. Adjust seasoning to taste.
