Description
A classic comfort food featuring juicy beef patties smothered in rich gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and shape into oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove the patties from the skillet, then add beef broth to the same skillet and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Gradually add to the broth, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Return the patties to the skillet and coat them with the gravy. Cook for another 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice, allowing the gravy to soak into your favorite sides.
Notes
For variations, try adding sautéed mushrooms or using gluten-free breadcrumbs. Adjust seasoning to taste.
