Description
A quick and flavorful weeknight dish with sweet honey, bright ginger, and savory soy that caramelizes beautifully.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper. If using thicker pieces, pound them to an even thickness.
- In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Place chicken in a bowl or zip-top bag and pour marinade over it. Ensure each piece is coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight.
- Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and let excess drip off. Grill or sauté for about 6–7 minutes on each side until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and exterior is caramelized.
- Transfer cooked chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice or serve chicken whole, garnishing with reserved pan juices and sliced green onions.
Notes
For best results, use fresh ginger and avoid overcrowding the pan. Marinade can be reduced for a thicker sauce.
