Ingredients

  • 2 ham hocks
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Puff pastry sheets
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). In a large pot, cover the ham hocks with water, bring to boil, then simmer for about 2 hours until tender.
  2. Remove the ham hocks, cool slightly, and chop the meat into bite-sized pieces, reserving the broth for later.
  3. Sauté onion, carrots, and celery in a frying pan until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Mix chopped ham, honey, mustard, and parsley into the sautéed vegetables, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Roll out puff pastry and line a pie dish. Fill it with the ham mixture.
  6. Cover with another sheet of pastry or fold edges to seal, brushing the top with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
