- 2 ham hocks
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Puff pastry sheets
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). In a large pot, cover the ham hocks with water, bring to boil, then simmer for about 2 hours until tender.
- Remove the ham hocks, cool slightly, and chop the meat into bite-sized pieces, reserving the broth for later.
- Sauté onion, carrots, and celery in a frying pan until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Mix chopped ham, honey, mustard, and parsley into the sautéed vegetables, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Roll out puff pastry and line a pie dish. Fill it with the ham mixture.
- Cover with another sheet of pastry or fold edges to seal, brushing the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
