Description

A quick and flavorful Indian cabbage stir-fry featuring warm spices and a hint of heat, perfect as a side dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2–3 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Prepare the cabbage and chilies.
  2. Add mustard seeds to the oil and let them splutter. Then add cumin seeds and green chilies; sauté for about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in shredded cabbage, mixing well to coat with spices.
  4. Sprinkle turmeric and salt over the cabbage; mix again.
  5. Cover and cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender but with a slight bite.
  6. Remove from heat, garnish with cilantro, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with rice, dal, or chapati. Add lemon or cooked lentils for variation.
