Description
A quick, cozy snack that tastes like warm doughnuts in a bowl, buttery and sweet with a hint of cinnamon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Cheerios
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional for dusting)
Instructions
- Measure the Cheerios and place them in a large mixing bowl. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Have the vanilla and butter ready at the stove.
- Place a medium pan over low heat and add the butter. Let it melt slowly so it becomes warm and fragrant but does not brown. Stir in the vanilla extract once the butter is melted.
- Add the Cheerios to the pan and stir gently with a spatula. Coat all the pieces evenly in the warm butter—about 1–2 minutes of stirring.
- Remove the pan from the heat. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered Cheerios and toss until they are well coated and glossy. For an extra doughnut-like finish, dust lightly with powdered sugar before serving. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Serve warm in small bowls or paper cones. They are great as a snack or a quick dessert. Pair with a hot drink for a cozy combo.
