- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for glaze)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place on the prepared baking sheet, flattening slightly.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden, then cool on a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies and let set.
Notes
For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
