Description

A bright, creamy buttercream frosting full of fresh citrus flavor that’s perfect for topping cupcakes or cakes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until fully combined.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and mix to combine.
  4. Add the orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  5. Adjust consistency with more powdered sugar to thicken or a splash more cream to loosen. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Notes

For a stiffer frosting, increase powdered sugar by 1/2 to 1 cup. Use room-temperature butter for the best texture.
