- 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Cook the orecchiette pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet, cooking for an additional minute to release their aromas. Then, add the broccoli florets, and cook until they are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Combine the cooked orecchiette with the sausage and broccoli mixture in the skillet. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, season with salt and pepper, and mix well until everything is combined and heated through.
Notes
Serve hot garnished with extra grated Parmesan cheese or a sprinkle of freshly cracked pepper. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
