Description

These oven-baked dumplings are a healthier twist on a favorite takeout dish, featuring a flavorful filling and a creamy peanut sauce.


Ingredients

  • About 24 dumpling wrappers
  • 1 lb ground meat (chicken, pork, or crumbled firm tofu for vegetarian)
  • 2 cups cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1–2 tbsp soy sauce (for the filling)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1–2 tbsp soy sauce (for the sauce)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2–4 tbsp water (to thin)
  • Chili sauce (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil it.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground meat (or tofu), cabbage, carrot, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  3. Place a spoonful of filling in each dumpling wrapper, moisten edges with water and seal tightly.
  4. Arrange dumplings on the baking sheet, brush with oil, and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While baking, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, honey, and water until smooth for the sauce.
  6. Serve the dumplings hot with the peanut sauce on the side for dipping.

You can customize the filling and adjust the sauce for sweetness or heat to your preference.
