Description

Patty Melt Toasties combine the irresistible flavors of a juicy burger with the comfort of grilled cheese, featuring caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese between crispy rye bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are golden and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix well and form it into four equally-sized patties.
  3. In the same skillet, add the beef patties and cook on medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches with rye bread, a beef patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions.
  5. Grill the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  6. Remove the toasties from the skillet, cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with crispy fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
