- 4 slices of white bread
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of raspberry jam
- Egg whites for meringue (approximately 2 to 3)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the bread into cubes and place them in a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, and butter until melted. Pour this over the bread and let soak for 10 minutes.
- Beat the eggs and add the vanilla extract, then mix into the soaked bread mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until set.
- Remove the pudding from the oven and spread raspberry jam evenly over the top.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then spread over the jam layer.
- Bake again for another 10 minutes or until the meringue is golden.
Notes
Choose day-old bread for better absorption. You can substitute raspberry jam with other flavors like strawberry or lemon curd.
