- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes and cool on the baking sheet.
- For the frosting, beat together the softened cream cheese, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cookies generously with cream cheese frosting and serve.
Notes
Use gel food coloring for a vibrant color. Store frosted cookies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
