Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Beat in the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract until well combined and creamy.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough into two disks, wrap each in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out one disk of dough to about 1/4-inch thick, cut into shapes, and transfer to baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cookies are set but still soft in the middle. Let cool before decorating.
Notes
