Description
An easy, comforting bread with a soft crumb and a warm, golden crust, perfect for sandwiches or toast.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g bread flour
- 350ml water
- 100g sourdough starter
- 10g salt
Instructions
- Combine the bread flour and water in a mixing bowl and mix until there are no dry bits. Let it rest for 30 minutes to autolyse.
- Add the sourdough starter and salt, then knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and slightly elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4–6 hours until doubled in size.
- Gently deflate, shape the dough into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 1–2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) while the dough finishes its final rise.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the crust is deep golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a rack for at least 30–60 minutes before slicing.
