Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring about 10 cups of water to a rolling boil and add baking soda.
- Divide the dough into bite-sized pieces. Boil each piece for about 30 seconds and then remove with a slotted spoon.
- Place the boiled pretzel bites on the prepared baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
