These crisp, cheesy sourdough Cheez-Its snack crackers are lightly tangy and perfect for snacking or pairing with dips.

- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- Water as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the sourdough starter, shredded cheddar, softened butter, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using) in a mixing bowl. Stir until the mixture is evenly blended.
- Add the flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water a teaspoon at a time.
- Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into small squares and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until golden brown around the edges. Allow to cool.
Notes
Serve plain or with dips like hummus or tzatziki. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
