Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, spices, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat the egg and vanilla into the butter-sugar mixture, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. You can experiment with different spices for unique flavors.
